It’s a young, sexy, modern and forward-looking industry, which combines tradition with cutting-edge technologies and the know-how with the greatest design. The Portuguese footwear industry is in constant progress. The sector is currently investing on one of the most offensive external promotion ever. It’s also predicted commercial activities in 16 different markets, on a real journey around the world in 365 days. Simultaneously, an image campaign is being promoted with the slogan “The sexiest industry in Europe”, which intends to reposition the Portuguese offer at an international level.

Broaden the exporting basis for more companies and enhance new windows of opportunities on emerging economies is the main goal of the most internationalized Portuguese industry, which, in 2016, exported over 95% of its production to 152 countries on all five continents. Consequently, the Portuguese footwear exports increased 3.3% last year. Portugal exported over 80 million pairs of shoes, in the amount of 1.930 million euros. The national footwear exports have increased for the seventh consecutive year and reached a historic maximum.

Since 2009, the Portuguese footwear exports have already growth 55%. Portugal is at this time consolidating its presence within the European markets and has doubled the presence in overseas markets.
