Open Call: CHAIN REACTION
Created by Hugo Brazão and Elizabeth Prentis, CHAIN REACTION is an ambitious program seeking to establish bridges and strengthen ties between Portuguese artists and a network of foreign cultural agents – curators, gallerists and institutions.
At the genesis of the project is a strong collaborative, informal, and dialogical component based on the construction of a cohesive and critical global community capable of generating knowledge and useful tools for the development of the local artistic scene and the circulation of works and artists.
As a first activity, CHAIN REACTION now launches an open call for micro-residencies aimed at six (6) interested individuals without a workplace. Artists, curators, writers, or cultural professionals who want to work and discuss general and particular themes in the world of art can register. Each person will have access to Brazão and Prentis’ shared studio for seven (7) days.
In another instance, the project also foresees several free-access debates and dinners, to stimulate a certain conviviality among participants, within six themes that mark contemporary times: “collaborative practices, beyond boundaries, unlearn, outer edge, female frequencies and fluidity”.
The full programme of CHAIN REACTION can be found below. The open call runs until December 31st local time. Additional information follows the text.
