Da Natureza das Figuras, a collaboration between Fundação PLMJ and CCP

Fundação PLMJ and Camões – Centro Cultural Português (CCP) are hosting the group exhibition Da Natureza das Figuras, the second exhibition of works from the collection of Fundação PLMJ at Luanda’s Camões – Centro Cultural Português following a first experience in 2018.

This exhibition serves as both an elegy and a historical review of the work of Paulo Jazz, a prominent artist in the Angolan artistic scene who combined popular imagery (POP) with cubism. Da Natureza das Figuras showcases the artist’s work as well as pieces from the collection of Fundação PLMJ, bringing together Jazz and other important names in the Angolan and CPLP context.

Moreover, the exhibition documents half a century of social, political, and cultural transformations that have significantly influenced these artists and greatly impacted contemporary Angolan reality through the city, the micronarrative possibilities of the spaces, and the every day fictions.

Curated by João Silvério, the exhibition features works by Benjamim Sabby, Cláudio Rafael, Délio Jasse, Edson Chagas, Hildebrando de Melo, Kiluanji Kia Henda, Lino Damião, Ihosvanny, Paulo Jazz, Paulo Kussy, and Yonamine. It will be open to the public until November 27th at Camões – Centro Cultural Português de Luanda.
