The group of finalists for the 15th edition of the EDP Foundation New Artists Award has been announced. In 2025, the exhibition at MAAT, in which the 20,000 euro prize will be awarded, will be composed of Alice dos Reis, Evy Jokhova, Francisco Trêpa, Inês Brites, Maja Escher and Sara Chan Yang – artists selected from over 800 applications.

The selection jury, which is also responsible for curating next year’s show, was made up of Sérgio Mah, Luís Silva and Catarina Rosendo.

The prize is an initiative of the EDP Foundation, which aims to honour some of the best emerging talents in Portuguese contemporary art. Applications are eligible from any artists at the start of their careers, whether they are Portuguese, resident or not in Portugal, or foreigners resident in the country.

Past winners of the EDP Foundation New Artists Award include Joana Vasconcelos, Leonor Antunes, Vasco Araújo, Carlos Bunga, João Maria Gusmão + Pedro Paiva, João Leonardo, André Romão, Gabriel Abrantes, Priscila Fernandes, Ana Santos, Mariana Silva, Claire de Santa Coloma, Diana Policarpo and, in its most recent edition, Adriana Proganó.
