Meet the finalists of the Norberto Fernandes Prize | Altice Foundation
The Altice Foundation has announced the finalists for the first edition of the Norberto Fernandes Prize. The initiative aims to recognise talent in the field of Contemporary Art and is divided into two categories: Art and Technology and Young Artists (up to the age of 35). The selection process, which takes place in two stages, included an Evaluation and Monitoring Committee made up of Adelaide Duarte, Manuel da Costa Cabral and Pedro Portugal. Ten finalist candidates were selected from each category:
Art and Technology: LealVeileby, Bruno José Silva, Carlos Mensil, Cristina Massena, Dalila Gonçalves, Daniel Nave, Gabriel Abrantes, Inês Norton, Pedro Henriques and Rudolfo Quintas.
Young Artists: Bárbara Faden, Catarina Lopes Vicente, Diogo Bolota, Francisca Aires Mateus, Francisco Correia, Henrique Pavão, Inês Barreto, Maria Trabulo, Pedro Barassi and Samuel Ferreira.
The second phase of the selection will include an exhibition of the works on this shortlist in a public space in Lisbon, from which a Jury (to be identified shortly and made up of three members of reference and recognised in the artistic and academic world), accompanied by a member of the Altice Foundation, will be responsible for the final assessment of the shortlisted projects, defining the winner in each category.
The Art and Technology prize is worth 30,000 euros (15,000 of which will be awarded in cash and a further 15,000 in the form of purchases of the artist’s work) and the Young Artists prize is worth 10,000 euros (5,000 of which will be awarded in cash and a further 5,000 in purchases of the artist’s work).
