Applications open for the 2024 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize

Applications for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2024 are now open until October 25, 2023, in what is to be the competition’s 7th edition, with a prize worth €50.000, earning it the accolade of being one of the most international and competitive entries in the arts world.

Founded by Johnathan Anderson, the brand’s creative director, the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize distinguishes the finest in the world of handicrafts or so-called arts and crafts – a form of expression sometimes sidelined in the media arts market, but whose aesthetic and artistic merit should be fairly acknowledged. From basketry to glass, ceramics to carpentry, jewellery to textiles, this award reiterates the importance of manual labour, materials, aesthetics and ingenuity, honouring the beginnings of LOEWE itself.

This year’s jury will consist of Johnathan Anderson, Loewe Foundation President Sheila Loewe, architect and Pritzker Prize winner Wang Shu, ceramicist and winner of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2023 Eriko Inazaki, among others. The expert panel, which will screen the works to be presented to the jury, will include glass artist and finalist for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2023 Keeryong Choi, and metal artist and finalist for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2023 Kaori Juzu.

Anyone interested can find all the information here, including details of previous winners, the works awarded honourable mentions and the backgrounds of the jury members.
