Applications open for the 2023 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize

Applications for the 2023 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize are open until October 25, 2022, in the sixth edition of the competition, with a prize worth €50.000 and the prestige of one of the most international and competitive entries in the art world.

Founded by Johnathan Anderson, the brand’s creative director, the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize distinguishes the best in craftsmanship or so-called arts and crafts – sometimes a renegade expression in the arts mainstream market, but whose aesthetic and artistic value should rightly be reckoned with. Basketry, glass, ceramics, carpentry, jewellery and textiles, this award reinforces the importance of manual work, material and aesthetic issues and inventiveness, having already distinguished the artists Ernst Gamperl, Jennifer Lee, Genta Ishizuka, Fanglu Lin and, in the 2022 edition, Dahye Jeong.

The jury will be composed of the aforementioned Johnathan Anderson, as well as Naoto Fukasawa, Olivier Gabet, Hongnam Kim, Enrique Loewe, Magdalene Odundo, Wang Shu, Deyan Sudjic, Benedetta Tagliabue, Abraham Thomas, Patricia Urquiola and Anatxu Zabalbeascoa.

Those interested can access all the complete information here, including details of previous editions’ winners, the works awarded with honourable mentions and the jury’s background.
