Poster Mostra is back, a project created and developed by Departmento. In 2021, in its sixth edition, the event is preceded by a double Open Call between May 3 and June 3. It is an invitation to create posters, allowing freeing creative and artistic expression, whilst targeting an exhibition to be held in Marvila between July 3 and September 3. Everyone can apply, regardless of their background (artistic or otherwise), age or nationality.

The Poster Open Call follows the usual model, being open to free creative work in poster format (words, photography, drawing, illustration, or mixed technique). From the proposals received, ten winners will be chosen. The proposals will be evaluated anonymously and in a blind test by the organization’s jury – linked to Departmento, the entity that has founded the project.

For the first time, Poster Mostra begins with an extraordinary Open Call in partnership with Sandeman, a historic Port wine brand. Sandeman’s relationship with art is nothing new: several artists have already been invited to contribute to the visual universe of the brand, which has always valued an innovative and sophisticated approach in its communication.

The Sandeman Open Call challenges all those who wish to dive into the iconographic heritage of the brand, rediscovering pieces, drawings, paintings, and other works that have been part of its image in the past. Three winners will be selected – whose works will also be in the exhibition in Marvila. The jury will be composed of Sandeman representatives, Departmento and a guest artist, who will together assess the proposals received anonymously and in a blind test. The evaluation criteria will focus on originality, approach to the brand identity, and its applicability to the poster format. Sandeman will have an exclusive area in Poster Mostra, which will take visitors on a journey through the brand’s graphic references.

The Poster Mostra 2021 exhibition promises to put even more art in the streets of Marvila. As in previous editions, there will be twenty guests from several creative areas – adding to the ten winners of the Poster Open Call and three more from the Sandeman Open Call. This is the organization’s invitation: give wings to creativity and participate in an event that is already part of Lisbon’s cultural scene. The challenge is on!
