Books

In the Presence of Absence
Mahmoud Darwish
2006

A work, by the Palestinian writer and poet Mahmoud Darwish, that defies categorization and was written when the author was aware that his death was already imminent. Thus, Darwish gathered his strength to write this self-elegy of opposites: prose and poetry, life and death, home and exile in which the poet reflects on his existence, intertwined with that of his people. Through these lyrical meditations on love, longing, Palestine, history, friendship, family and the ongoing conversation between life and death, the poet offers himself and his readers a moving farewell.

Racismo no País dos Brancos Costumes [Only in Portuguese]
Joana Gorjão Henriques
2018

A book by journalist Joana Gorjão Henriques that tells real stories of racism in Portugal in four broad categories: justice, education, housing and employment. In this excellent journalistic work, the author reports with interviews and facts resulting from her research acts of violence and discrimination in a country that refuses to recognize its prejudices.

HuBB Humans Before Borders is a platform for action against the inhuman and illegal treatment of migrants and refugees. We are a group of citizens who want to remind the European Union of its fundamental values: the Declaration of Human Rights, including among others the right to asylum. HuBB was born in September 2018 from a desire to bring reliable information to the sphere of political debate. Since then, we have organized events, created awareness campaigns and collaborated with human rights experts with a focus on border and refugee topics. We are united by the belief that individual actions make a difference and that collective action can change the world.
