Umbigo @ ARCOlisboa 2019

As usual, Umbigo will be part of ARCOlisboa 2019 with a booth and the art project Oracle by the artist Pedro Valdez Cardoso.

Oracle draws information from past artworks and foresees the future in thoughts and ambiguous visions. According to the work’s sinopsis, “the project consists in an edition of 22 posters (5 copies each) recalling titles from the artist’s repertoire which report to several origins: historical quotes, music verses or lines from movies. Nevertheless, none of the posters show the works in question through images, [being] only assemble through words composed graphically in order to create subtexts and tension between what’s written and how it is visually written”.

ARCOlisboa 2019 will feature the newest director of this fair, Maribel López, who has declared a will to renew the fair’s model, back in ARCOmadrid 2019. ARCOlisboa will host 71 galleries from 17 countries, featuring a new and special participation of galleries from Africa in the section Africa in Focus.

Umbigo will host a cocktail in the pre-opening day, 15 May, at 6:30 pm, with the support of Herdade do Monte da Ribeira wines.
