JustLX 2018, at Museu da Carris
Art fairs are ruled by specific, mostly inscrutable criteria and surely inaccessible to the majority of people. The rules to that selection are frequently shadowed and unrevealed in press notes or regulations, even though a greater transparency has been pursued lately. There’s no better nor worse criteria; more inclusive or less. Sometimes it’s all a legitimate question of affinities. Mas it’s convenient when the spectrum is broadened.
In this sense, we salute when new art fairs come to life, revising certain selections and choices which, when installed at the same time as those with international reputation, diversify the shows, the artists and the presented works. Like JustLX, a new art fair that after their success in Madrid is now being hosted in Lisbon.
Thus, in the same schedule as ARCOlisboa, from 17 to 20 May, JustLX offers to those interested more galleries, more artists, but above all more Portuguese representation.
For this edition, Lourenço Egreja (founder of Carpe Diem project) will share the direction with Semíramis González and Daniel Silvo, who established a focus in Africa, with a curatorial gaze aimed to young collectors.
