Festival Aqui Acolá, at Ponta do Sol, Madeira
Ponta do Sol is the place where the Aqui Acolá Festival happens, a small location in the island of Madeira that has been gathering efforts to promote this event of music, dance, theatre, cinema, photography and many other disciplinary fields of the Arts.
From 10 to 13 May, the headline announces names from dance and experimental contemporary music, artists that cross ethnographic sounds with the vanguards of electronic, as well as bands and singers from the national Pop scene.
Umbigo highlights the experiences by Mercedes Peón who mixes the ancient Spanish singings with electronic sounds, now gathered in a new album to be presented; Dead Combo and Mafalda Veiga, two well-known Portuguese names who will present their new works; and, finally, the contemporary dance piece Olhos Caídos [Fallen Eyes] by the cherished choreographer Tânia Carvalho, after a long cycle which brought together several artistic institutions in celebration of her 20 years of career.
