5 Cultural Suggestions — Marilá Dardot

Every week, UMBIGO invites two people to share their 5 cultural suggestions. What can we do at home? From a book to a podcast, album or film: here are recommendations from artists, curators, gallery owners, cultural activists, friends.

We will share the recipe for what makes us better, and we remain united and positive.

Marilá Dardot

Nix – One of the best literature books I’ve read in recent times. Author Nathan Hill is a great writer, the translation of José Francisco Botelho into Portuguese is incredible, the book is addictive and has a lot to say about current times.

Ideas to postpone the end of the world – Essential book by indigenous thinker Ailton Krenak to rethink ideas about humanity and nature.

Art strategies in an age of catastrophes – This book brings together a good part of the essay production of theoretical and critical art Maria Angélica Melendi, who was my teacher and is one of the major culprits for having become an artist.

Pingue Pongue – I’m addicted to Pingue Pong, a radio program for two with songs and conversations between Tomás Cunha Ferreira and Matilde Campilho. They don’t even suspect, but they are my companions every afternoon.

with the whole ocean to swim – Beautiful poetic essay by Karen Harley about José Leonilson, from his diaries recorded in the 80s.
